Hisar Mosque Built in 1597 by Aydınoğlu (Molla) Yakup Bey, Hisaronu Mosque is one of the historical and touristy monuments of İzmir. Near the Kızlaragasi Khan and Kemeraltı Bazaar, it is the biggest this mosque of Izmir. Renovated in 1813, 1881, 1927 and 1980 and also decorated with 18th and 19 century styles. You can see European art effects on the minbar and preaching area. |
Başdurak Mosque It is located on Anafartalar Street in Kemeraltı Bazaar. İt was built by Hacı Hüseyin Ağa in 1774. The minaret was restored in 1880. There are 12 stairs leading the mosque located on a hewn stone pedestal. |
Beth Israel Synagogue This synagogue, which is the biggest one in Izmir, is about 1 kilometer far from Konak Square and constructed by Izmir Prefecture Kamil Pasha, with the permission of Sultan Abdülhamit II. |
St. Polycarpe Church The Saint Polycarp Church is the oldest church in Izmir and symblozes the Seven Churches of the Apocalypse. Saint Polycarp was martyred at age 86 in A.D. 155 at Kadifkale by the Romans. |

Konak Mosque It is in Konak Square. The mosque of tiles and stones was built by Mehmet Paşa's daughter Ayşe Hanım in 1754. It was restored in 1920 and 1964. It is built in classical Ottoman architecture style and embroidered by ceramic tiles. The windows are also surrounded by ceramic tiles. The minaret has a circular body. |
